Pancake Day (also called Shrove Tuesday) is the last day before Lent. It takes place on Tuesday 21st February 2012, so here are 10 great resources if you are planning to use the day in your teaching: 1) Twinkl have a number of pancake themed resources, including display material and recipe sheets. 2) Mrs Pancake have some picture instructions that can be used for sequencing or instructional writing activities. 3) The wonderful Communication4All site also has a number of resources that can be used on Shrove Tuesday. 4) If you want to find out some background information about the day and how it is celebrated, Woodlands Junior School have an easy-to-read page that children can use for research. 5) BBC Newsround have a quiz to test children’s knowledge of Pancake Day. 6) There is also a large collection of resources on the Activity Village site, including colouring pages, puzzles and craft activities. 7) VideoJug have a simple video guide to making pancakes. Could you use this as the inspiration for some instruction writing, or as a starting point for your own video?
