ONLINE GAMBLING EXECUTIVE JIM RYAN TO SERVE AS G2E 2012 EXCLUSIVE CONFERENCE KEYNOTE SPEAKER

LAS VEGAS - The American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions announced today that Jim Ryan, co-chief executive officer (CEO) of bwin.party digital entertainment plc, will serve as the exclusive conference keynote speaker at Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2012. Ryan is highly regarded for his knowledge of the Internet gambling industry and his leadership of bwin.party digital entertainment, the world’s largest listed Internet gambling business. The premier trade show and conference event for the international gaming entertainment industry, G2E 2012 will be held October 1 – 4, 2012, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ryan’s conference keynote address will be held on Wed., Oct. 3, from 3:15 – 4:15 p.m. and will be open to G2E 2012 conference delegates only. He plans to address the growth in the global Internet gambling phenomenon and its future potential. Ryan joins a prestigious list of past G2E conference keynote speakers, including Gary Loveman, president, CEO and chairman of Caesars Entertainment Corporation, and James J. Murren, chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International.

He also has held senior posts at three publicly-listed companies, including president and CEO of Excapsa Software Inc, chief financial officer (CFO) of CryptoLogic Inc. and CFO of SXC Health Solutions Corp.

Ryan earned a business degree with first-class honors at Brock University in Ontario, Canada. He also obtained professional qualifications as a chartered accountant from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

According to the same decision, the Board of Directors of Club Hotel Loutraki SA proposes Mr. Nikolaos Remantas to become the Administrator of the JV Club Hotel Casino Loutraki.

 

 

MICROGAMING PRIZE DRAW SUPPORTS CRAIG’S HEARTSTRONG FOUNDATION

05th March 2012 ISLE OF MAN – Microgaming (www.microgaming.com) has provided a substantial fundraising sum to support Manx-based charity Craig's Heartstrong Foundation.

The world's largest provider of online gaming software has donated a sum of £1,504 to the charity, established in 2005 after the death of 25 year old Craig Lunt, who died of a previously unidentified heart defect. The Foundation aims to raise the necessary funding to enable the heart screening of all men and women between 14 and 35 on the Isle of Man in order to help prevent Sudden Death Syndrome.

Microgaming's CEO Roger Raatgever was pleased to hand over the cheque to Craig's mum Paula Lunt, who founded the charity following Craig's death. The proceeds of the cheque came from Microgaming's annual staff party.

Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, said: "Our prize draw held at the annual staff party is hugely popular with staff, as it gives them the opportunity to raise money to benefit local charities.  The Heartstrong  Foundation is a very popular recipient."

Paula Lunt, founder of Craig's Heartstrong Foundation, said: "Our Foundation could not survive if it were not for the generous donations that companies such as Microgaming provide. We are extremely grateful to Microgaming and their staff for their kind donation."

 

9th Annual Responsible Gaming Academy

Vienna, 27 February 2012 Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries will be hosting their 9th annual Responsible Gaming Academy in Studio 44, Vienna on 20 and 21 March 2012. This year, over 200 experts and representatives of the Casinos Austria Group's operations in Austria and around the globe will be travelling to Vienna to hear top-caliber presentations, find out more about the latest research and attend special workshops on responsible gaming and player protection issues.

The program for the 9th Responsible Gaming Academy includes a number of well-known researchers and industry experts.

Dr. Jeffrey L. Derevensky of McGill University in Canada, will present lessons learned and the results of research examining the relationship between physical abuse, psychological abuse and neglect and its impact on gambling behavior in young adults.

Dr. Peter R. Darke of Schulich School of Business in Canada will be talking about the effects that lucky events and belief in personal good luck can have on gambling behavior. Both Dr. Derevensky and Dr Darke were recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Responsible Gambling Council of Canada.

Dr. Jens Kalke of the Center for Interdisciplinary Addiction Research at the University of Hamburg in Germany will present recommendations for the prevention of undesirable behavior or situations in the gambling sector in Austria based on the findings of a multi-module study carried out in 2009/2010.

Doris Malischnig, Head of the Prevention Department in the CF Responsible Gaming, Advertising & Sponsoring, will discuss the implementation of some of the measures recommended by the research team at Casinos Austria/Austrian Lotteries.

Professor Herwig Scholz of Krankenhaus de La Tour in Austria is Medical Director at the hospital's gambling addiction outpatient clinic. In his presentation, he introduces a new university seminar set up to facilitate knowledge transfer and synthesize expertise in player protection, problem prevention, therapy options, social support, and other gambling related areas.

Herbert Beck, Head of the CF Responsible Gaming, Advertising & Sponsoring at the Casinos Austria/ Austrian Lotteries Group, outlines the need for responsible gaming standards and principles as a prerequisite for certification in the gaming industry. He also illustrates how such principles form an integral part of daily business in the Austrian group's broad portfolio of gambling products and services.

Michael Auer, co-founder of a2mlab in Austria, presents a new system for optimizing individual responsible gaming strategies in the online sector. Developed by a2mlab in cooperation with Professor Mark Griffiths of the UK's Nottingham Trent University, Mentor uses the latest scientific findings and technology to provide active player protection.
