IGT Names MEI® Strategic Supplier of the Quarter

Posted: 24 May 2012 02:48 PM PDT

West Chester, PA, March 26, 2012 — MEI received the prestigious honor of being named the IGT Strategic Supplier of the Quarter.  The merit-based award is based on exceeding the platinum standard of 85 points through a graded assessment of quality, availability and customer satisfaction.

"This is a tremendous achievement for MEI," said Eric Fisher, Vice President of Gaming – Americas.  "It speaks volumes not only about our commitment to product quality, but also our ability to exceed expectations for customer service."

Winning the IGT award is another example of how the Gaming industry has embraced the MEI value proposition.  MEI's core Gaming product, CASHFLOW® SC, has raised the profile of bill acceptors and their role in operator profitability by improving upon the attributes responsible for consumer satisfaction and, ultimately, product performance – acceptance, jam rate, security and cost of operation.

"MEI's investment in technical resources, along with their improvement in delivering against the 'hard' metrics, has been very impressive," says Rick Lloyd, IGT Director of Supply Chain.  "MEI was the only supplier to earn the IGT award in the first quarter."

The award is a testament to MEI's dedication to innovation.  CASHFLOW SC, first introduced in 2002, continues to change expectations for peripherals in slot machines.  The ability to enhance CASHFLOW SC with EASITRAX® Soft Count, which is now installed in nearly 70,000 games globally, has evolved MEI's role from being a component supplier to a cash management system integrator.

MEI CASHFLOW SC

"What makes this distinction truly rewarding is the number of customers that value the MEI portfolio of products and have specified CASHFLOW SC in IGT games," said Mr. Fisher.  "And now that we have introduced EASITRAX, multiple sized cashboxes and a number of additional options, we continue to win loyalty amongst our customer base.

"So we are not only winning this for serving IGT, but for also providing a valued service to the entire Gaming industry."

The innovation provided by MEI will continue to progress.  The next generation of CASHFLOW SC, called SC Advance, has been submitted to Gaming OEMs for approval and is targeted for release later this year. SC Advance is backwards compatible with CASHFLOW SC, allowing customers to yield value from previous investments in MEI.  It also features a number of enhancements, including increased memory, faster note-to-note speed and a new recognition system for enhanced security.

About MEI: MEI systems are relied upon for more than two billion transactions per week in over 100 countries.  The company developed the first electronic coin mechanism in the 1960s followed by the first electronic non-contact bill acceptor, and more recently the EASITRAX Soft Count slot tracking system.  MEI has the largest worldwide installed base of unattended payment mechanisms.  Recently, MEI reached a milestone of selling more than four million bill acceptors and five million coin mechanisms worldwide.  Its products are in widespread use in the gaming, vending, soft drink, amusement, transportation, retail, and kiosk markets.  For more information on MEI and its products, visit www.meigroup.com or call 1-800-345-8215 in US (please refer to our website for international telephone numbers).

Quixant Launches Gaming Platform based on New AMD R Series APU Technology

Posted: 24 May 2012 03:49 AM PDT

Cambridge, UK 23 May  2012. Quixant today launches the QX 40, the next generation APU technology all-in-one gaming platform based on the new AMD R Series APU featuring AMD RadeonTM HD7000G Series Graphics. The launch of the QX40 coincides with AMD's official launch of the R Series APU chipset.

The QX-40 has been designed to meet the demands of high-performance, multi-screen graphics-intensive gaming applications. Available with Dual-Core or Quad- Core processors up to 2.7GHz (3.2GHz boost), the QX-40 is a powerful all-in-one gaming platform, complete with comprehensive PCI Express® based gaming logic and non-volatile SRAM/MRAM storage.

The unique QX-40 has the graphics power to drive up to ten screens, placing it in a class of its own. This is achieved by the QX-40's ability to enable the AMD R-Series APU to work in harmony with an on-board AMD RadeonTM E6460 or E6760 discrete GPU, resulting in ground-breaking performance and the ability to drive up to ten independent high definition monitors.

The QX-40 features support for the latest DirectX® 11, OpenGL® 4.2 and OpenCL™ 1.1 standards. The exceptional graphics performance and features provided by the QX-40 eliminates the traditional need for a separate graphics card, reducing overall size, power and system costs as well as providing stable, long-term supply.

Managing Director of Quixant, Nick Jarmany, commented "The new QX-40 delivers graphics performance never before seen in an integrated gaming platform. The ability to drive up to ten screens is revolutionary and opens up interesting new possibilities to slot manufacturers. All this is achieved with low power consumption, excellent reliability and long-term supply, all key requirements in gaming."

Director of Embedded Client Business at AMD, Richard Jaenicke, said "The QX-40 is an exciting new system that has the features commonly requested by casino gaming companies worldwide. In particular, the coupling of the AMD R-Series APU together with a discrete AMD embedded GPU on a single board makes the QX-40 an excellent choice for a premium gaming solution."

The QX-40 is also able to operate from a single 12V power supply, eliminating the extra expense and reliability issues of an ATX PSU.

The QX-40 samples can be ordered from the 23rd May 2012 and is available on a 5+2 year basis. Further information about the QX-40 will be available on Quixant's website www.quixant.com, AMD online catalogue and from the sales team at sales@quixant.com
