Competitions for Schools! Posted: 15 May 2012 10:00 AM PDT There are always lots of competitions that schools can get involved in, offering great prizes for the pupils and schools to win. Here are some current competitions that you might like to enter with your students: - BT Internet Rangers – BT are looking for schools and young people up to the age of 16 who have used their ICT skills to help other people get online. Individuals can win an iPad plus £100 worth of IT vouchers and schools can win up to £4,000! - The Future We Want – Students with a flair for poetry will be able to show their creative side by taking part in a new WWF competition that invites them to express what they want for their future ahead of the decisive Earth Summit. The competition is open to students from 11 to 14 years old and all that is required is to send a poem to WWF by 25th May 2012. One lucky student will win an iPad and £500 for their school, but most importantly they will have the unique opportunity to present their poem to the Secretary of State for Environment Caroline Spelman at a special event before the start of Rio +20.
- Travel Back in Rhyme – This poetry competition aims to support Literacy and History skills, challenging pupils to write a descriptive poem about a historical event. The competition site offers free resources and lesson plans and prizes include thousands of pounds for schools and book tokens to students.
- Gardening with Children – Can your children design a Royal Garden? Garden designs can be as elaborate or as simple as you like, you could use lots of different colours as well as the traditional red/white/blue. The winning entry will receive lots of gardening equipment for their school.
- Jubilee Portrait Competition - All school children in the United Kingdom are invited to paint a portrait of their Queen, in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee. Winning schools and artists will receive prize money and the winning portraits will be shown in Edinburgh and London. A book of winners and other outstanding entries will also be presented to HM The Queen with copies to all schools featured in it.
