Free Online Digital Skills Courses from Adobe Posted: 21 May 2012 10:00 AM PDT
Adobe, creators of lots of popular creative software including Photoshop, Flash and Illustrator, have recently launched Adobe Generation, a series of free online courses. These are designed to help UK students aged 14-19 develop skills that will help them succeed in the workplace of tomorrow. They are starting with a course in Games Design and further courses will be available from September covering topics such as Animation, Digital Imaging and Video Editing. Students who sign up will learn everything from designing a best selling game, to editing the next Hollywood blockbuster. They will have access to a virtual learning environment hosting a range of learning resources including video tutorials, 'how to' guides and a recording of each session which they can download and revisit at a later date. They will also have access to a student forum where they can review and comment on each other's work, enabling them to learn valuable skills such as meeting deadlines and working collaboratively to achieve goals. Adobe will also provide students with a certificate when they complete the course. They will then be encouraged to continue their learning and move towards Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) – a national qualification validating entry-level skills in digital communications using Adobe tools. Adobe Generation will launch with the Games Design course which will run each Thursday from May 10th – July 12th at 7:00- 8:15pm.
