Blog Post: Falkenblog: Levered ETFs Highlights Volatility Demand Posted: 12 Jun 2012 07:54 PM PDT PowerShares rolled out a pair of ETNs offering inverse exposure to Japanese government bonds, the 3x Japanese Government Bond Futures ETN (JGBT), and the 3x Inverse Japanese Government Bond Futures ETN (JGBD). Government bonds are typically considered low risk, but to generate sufficient demand, it appears you need to lever them so they have high enough risk to warrant interest. I suspect... Published / Preprint: A physical theory of economic growth. (arXiv:1206.2494v1 [q-fin.GN]) Posted: 12 Jun 2012 05:33 PM PDT Economic growth is unpredictable unless demand is quantified. We solve this problem by introducing the demand for unpaid spare time and a user quantity named human capacity. It organizes and amplifies spare time required for enjoying affluence like physical capital, the technical infrastructure for production, organizes and amplifies working time for supply. The sum of annual spare and working... Visit MoneyScience for the Complete Article. |
Posted: 12 Jun 2012 05:33 PM PDT We consider dynamic sublinear expectations (i.e., time-consistent coherent risk measures) whose scenario sets consist of singular measures corresponding to a general form of volatility uncertainty. We derive a c\`adl\`ag nonlinear martingale which is also the value process of a superhedging problem. The superhedging strategy is obtained from a representation similar to the... Published / Preprint: The Synthesis and Characterization of LiFeAs and NaFeAs Posted: 12 Jun 2012 07:15 AM PDT The newest homologous series of superconducting As-pnictides, LiFeAs (Li111) and NaFeAs (Na111) have been synthesized and investigated. Both crystallize with the layered tetragonal anti-PbFCl-type structure in P4/nmm space group. Polycrystalline samples and single-crystals of Li111 and Na111 display superconducting transitions at ~ 18 K and 12-25 K, respectively. No magnetic order has been found...
