Resource Site of the Week: PaperZip Posted: 17 Sep 2012 10:00 AM PDT
This is the third in our series of ‘Resource Site of the Week’ posts. Have you explored the other sites in this series yet? PaperZip offers KS1/2 primary teaching resources that vary from writing templates and bookmarks to alphabet packs and banners. Their most popular resource pack is an Angry Birds reward chart that was created to help engage pupils and improve behaviour in class, with something they would find relevant. PaperZip is relatively small in comparison to many of the more established sites online, but the resources are of an extremely high quality. The site is created by a small but growing team founded by a Graphic Designer and Primary Teacher from Scotland and it was started in September 2011. They originally began producing resources purely for individual use as they wanted something a bit more colourful and engaging than what was available at the time. Their resources caught the eyes of colleagues and they went from one classroom to all over the school. As more teachers became interested they decided it would be easier for everyone to take the project online and start a website to share the small number of resources we had. They now work on the site as much as they can, with regular input from half a dozen teachers, suggesting new resources and finding interesting links for their blog. The team are currently thinking about launching a monthly newsletter that will showcase their new and popular resources from the last 30 days. This will help busy teachers keep up to date with anything exciting or useful that is added to the site. They are also keen to hear resource suggestions from other teachers too. In addition to PaperZip, the team also run a kids site that many teachers use in class called Discovery Den, which is a collection of online games and activities to consolidate learning from class. PaperZip also have Twitter and Facebook pages and are celebrating their first birthday on September 19th, so Happy Birthday to PaperZip! What are your favourite resources on the site? |
