HAMDEN, CT  January 7, 2013  TransAct Technologies Incorporated (NASDAQ: TACT), a global leader in market-specific solutions, including printers, terminals, software and other products for transaction-based and other industries, today announced that it has signed a contract to install the EPICENTRAL® Print System at Resorts World Casino New York City. The EPICENTRAL® Print System will initially be connected to 2,500 slot machines and is projected to go live in the second quarter of 2013.

Bart C. Shuldman Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TransAct Technologies.

"We are excited to be working with Genting Group, one of the most dynamic casino resort operators in the world, as we install our EPICENTRAL® Print System at their casino at Aqueduct in New York City," said Bart C. Shuldman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TransAct Technologies. "We plan to initially install EPICENTRAL® on 2,500 slot machines with the potential to extend the installation to Resorts World's other 2,500 slot machines in the near future. Further, with the EPICENTRAL® Print System, Resorts World customers will no longer need to receive coupons and promotions at various kiosks on the casino floor; instead, patrons can now receive their rewards at the slot machine, thereby increasing slot machine play, enhancing the customer experience and helping to drive increased revenue for Genting."

The EPICENTRAL® Print System – connected directly to TransAct's ServerPort™ device inside the slot machine – is an easy-to-use, cost-efficient software system that enables casinos to internally develop marketing programs and promotional coupons to be distributed to customers on a real-time basis at a slot machine via the EPICENTRAL® technology. Additionally, the system works with existing slot systems and games as it operates with a separate and distinct connection with the printer. With this, casinos will be able to use the EPICENTRAL® Print System to connect to all existing slot machines, regardless of the game's manufacturer, to drive increased revenue and enhance their customers' experience on a real-time basis.

The Responsible Gambling Trust appoints an Assistant Director of Commissioning

Posted: 07 Jan 2013 11:01 AM PST

The Responsible Gambling Trust today announced that Jane Rigbye has been appointed as the charity's Assistant Director of Commissioning.

As one of the Trust's earlier recipients of PhD grant funding, Jane is now in the final stage of completing her doctoral research in the psychology of gambling – 'Problem gambling amongst youth: the barriers that prevent them from seeking treatment' – at Nottingham Trent University. The original purpose of funding PhD students was to develop the research capacity within Britain and the Trust now looks forward to benefiting directly from this investment.

Prior to her appointment, Jane Rigbye was Head of Youth Services and Policy Development at GamCare and Director of The Gambling Lab.  She also lectured on gambling studies at Salford Business School, University of Salford and on gambling behaviour at Nottingham Trent University (Division of Psychology).  In addition, Jane has published consultancy and training reports for the Gambling Commission and Manchester City Council as well as a variety of gambling related journal articles, educational materials and conference papers.

Marc Etches, Chief Executive, explained: "It is imperative that our grant funding achieves the best possible outcomes both in terms of minimising problem gambling and in offering good value for the money spent.  Therefore, as we move forward, our goal will increasingly be on commissioning evidence-based evaluation of service provision through a fair, consistent and objective decision-making process."

In accepting the appointment, Jane Rigbye, said: "I am most grateful to the Responsible Gambling Trust for its funding of my PhD in Psychology of Gambling and I am delighted to be able to join the charity as its Assistant Director of Commissioning.  I very much look forward to contributing to the delivery of the Trust's research strategy and helping implement an effective and robust evaluation of its grant funded activities."

Neil Goulden, Chairman, added: "Following Jane Rigbye's appointment, I am delighted to advise that the Trust has now achieved its full complement of staff.  In the process, the Trust has managed to reduce annual staffing costs by 36% compared with the combined annual payroll total for The GREaT Foundation and Responsible Gambling Fund.  This represents a saving of £193k which will now be spent on front-line services."

The complete Responsible Gambling Trust team of employees is as follows:

  • Marc Etches – Chief Executive
  • Karen Churches Peacock – Director of Fundraising
  • Jonathan Parke – Director of Commissioning
  • Jane Rigbye – Assistant Director of Commissioning
