Mecca has announced it paid out almost £324 million in prize money to customers playing online, on mobile and in clubs throughout 2012, which equates to over £27 million of prize money per month. But how does the rest of the country fare? In second place was the North West where customers won an equally impressive £53.9 million. Next up was Scotland with £53.3 million, followed by Yorkshire at £39.7 million, the North East with £39.5 million, the Midlands with £36.9 million and Wales and the South West with £22.3 million. Bringing up the rear with a still respectable £12.1 million was the East of England. Analysis from Mecca reveals that 337 customers won £20,000 or more at least once on the website last year. 38% of those won £20k more than once with one lucky customer bagging that prize 100 times! Nearly a quarter (23%), won £50,000 or more and a very lucky 14% won £100,000 on one or more occasion. When it comes to star signs, Taurus proved to be the luckiest with 10% of winners whereas bottom of the prize list was Aquarius with only 5% of winners. But it doesn't end there. 2013 is already shaping up to be a lucky year with six online winners sharing more than £600,000 in just six weeks. James Condon, Brand Marketing Director for Mecca says: "To pay out almost £324 million worth of prize money to our customers in just one year is fantastic. I think people new to the game find it surprising not just how much fun they can have playing with Mecca, but also how much money they can actually win, whether online, on mobile phones with our real time prize money apps or in clubs."
