Brilliant Blogger of the Week: Bill Boyd Posted: 11 Mar 2013 11:00 AM PDT
The next person in our series of Brilliant Bloggers is Bill Boyd. Bill’s blog, The Literacy Adviser, points teachers to the amazing free resources which are out there on the on the web. It is also a place where Bill shares his personal views on education. He taught secondary English for a number of years but for the past four years has been working as an independent Literacy consultant. Bill now teaches teachers which, he says, is a much more challenging task! Bill decided to start blogging in order to set up a ‘base’ from which to operate and establish an online presence. The response to the blog has been terrific. The most popular blog posts are those which deal with the debates about gender issues in literacy and those about traditional vs ‘new literacies’. Bill also has a number of useful pages sharing 100+ free web tools for teachers, suggested books for 10-14 year olds and tools for ‘reading’ film in the classroom. You can also follow Bill on Twitter. |
