Since he arrived in Nottingham the list of crimes the accused now stands to face is as long as some of the odds offered at his establishment and includes purloining the venue's larder so he could indulge, during work time, in his favorite hobby of eating pies.  Mark Hands venue director at Alea gets locked up Unknown to the kitchen staff (until now), Mark Hands who is the pie-oneering boss at Alea and the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill on Upper Parliament Street, is a notorious fan of the flan and will now have to come to terms with his pastry pilfering past time. Suspicions first started circulating when the head chef of the popular restaurant started noticing certain items of food were going missing. Upon further investigation he realised that all crumbs led to Mark's office where an assortment of culinary clues were found. For many, the pending time behind bars might be regarded as justified comeuppance for the Desperate Dan wannabe, however Mark's date at her majesty's pleasure is all for a very worthy cause! Raising money for Framework, Mark now hopes to collect over £1,000 as part of the charity's 'Jail and Bail' event which will go towards the registered charity and housing association that saves lives by preventing homelessness, stopping rough sleeping and providing new opportunities. Following his arrest on 16 May, Mark will stand at a public trial (complete with a judge, jury and suitable rowdy public gallery) in the Galleries' old Victorian courtroom, from where he will be led to dark, dank cells below and politely but firmly asked for £1,000 in bail. Commenting on the accusation Mark said: "It's unbelievable! This can't be true and is no doubt a complete set up. I treat my body like a temple and haven't so much as sniffed a delicious, meat filled, steamy pie, ladled in home-made gravy for what can only be a 24 hours. "These spurious accusations are based on some unfounded crumbs that were found in my office! "Seriously though it's a great and fun way to raise money for this fantastic charity and hopefully my time inside will help make a difference to the lives of local people. I'm sure my time inside will leave me eating a pie of an altogether different nature with the main ingredient including one very large portion of humble."
