Goliath Arrives in North American Casinos, Providing Eye-Catching, Larger Version of Konami’s Industry Leading Podium™ Cabinet

Las Vegas, NV  Konami Gaming, Inc. has expanded its family of Podium game cabinets with the introduction of the Podium Goliath. “Since its introduction, Podium has been a proven performer,” said Steve Sutherland, chief operating officer at Konami. “Based on feedback from our customers, we have expanded our line of Podium products by creating the largest Podium yet. Goliath was designed to support our robust game library and provide a unique and fun gaming experience for slot players.”

According to Ross O’Hanley, vice president of North American sales for Konami, “The demand for Goliath has been extraordinary. Many casinos are ordering three Goliath cabinets and displaying them on their casino floors in pods in high-traffic areas. The cabinet attracts quite a bit of attention, so we are not surprised that early performance indicators have been strong.”

Goliath stands over 93″ tall, includes dual 32″ high-definition LCD displays, 360 degree attract lighting, an ergonomic button panel, and an enhanced sound system. It supports KONAMI’s K2V and KP3 library, including stand-alone progressives.

Sir Winston Churchill: the historical figure on the next banknote

Bank of England Governor, Sir Mervyn King, announced today that Sir Winston Churchill will appear on the next Bank of England banknote. The Governor made the announcement, and revealed the image of Churchill which will be used, to members of the Churchill family at Chartwell, Churchill's former home.

Commenting on the choice, the Governor said: "Our banknotes acknowledge the life and work of great Britons. Sir Winston Churchill was a truly great British leader, orator and writer. Above that, he remains a hero of the entire free world. His energy, courage, eloquence, wit and public service are an inspiration to us all. I am proud to announce that he will appear on our next banknote."

The plan is for the Churchill note to be issued as a £5 note, and that it shall be issued during 2016; but those choices may be reviewed as plans for issuing the new note are finalised. Features of the design on the reverse of the note will include:

  • A portrait of Winston Churchill from a photograph taken in Ottawa by Yousuf Karsh on 30 December 1941.
  • A view of Westminster and the Elizabeth Tower from the South Bank looking across Westminster Bridge.
  • The image of the Elizabeth Tower with the hands of the Great Clock at 3 o'clock – the approximate time on 13 May 1940 when Sir Winston Churchill declared in a speech to the House of Commons: "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat." This declaration is quoted beneath the portrait.
  • A background image of the Nobel Prize medal which he was awarded in 1953 for literature, together with the wording of the prize citation.

Further details on the full design will be revealed when the new note is launched, together with a full promotion and awareness campaign.

Cantor Gaming® Signs Agreement With Atlantis, Paradise Island To Offer Mobile Casino Gaming And Build A Race And Sports Wagering Book

LAS VEGAS, April 25, 2013  Cantor Gaming® and Atlantis, Paradise Island (“Atlantis”), the renowned casino resort in Paradise Island, The Bahamas, announced today that they have reached an agreement for Cantor Gaming® to provide a complete mobile casino gaming and mobile sports wagering solution at Atlantis.  This marks the first time that The Bahamas has offered mobile gaming to tourists.

Commencing April 29, 2013, Atlantis will offer a wide selection of casino style games to Atlantis customers on Cantor Gaming’s® proprietary gaming system, including a selection of slots, table games and video poker will be available to Atlantis customers on Cantor Gaming’s mobile gaming platform.  Atlantis patrons will be able to play mobile casino games on their mobile devices across the resort, including the main casino, pools, Cove and Reef, by downloading Cantor Gaming’s Cantor Mobile Casino™ application.
