10 Resources for St. George’s Day

St George’s Day is celebrated by the several nations, kingdoms, countries, and cities of which Saint George is the patron saint. It takes place on 23rd April (Tuesday this week), so here are 10 resources that could be used by teachers who want to use the day as part of their lessons:

1) The wonderful Woodlands Junior School site has some child-friendly information about the day that children could use for research.

2) Here is a lovely animation that retells the story of St. George. Could your children make their own version?

3) The BBC’s Good Food site has a number of recipes for St. George’s Day. Could you try to make some of these with the children, try tasting some of them or write your own recipes and instructions?

4) Primary Treasure Chest have some printable activities and resources for use in the classroom.

5) Activity Village have a number of ideas and resources that can be used with children.

7) Simon Haughton has created this great animated story that would look great on a large display.

8 ) Parkfield Primary School have links to some great St. George’s Day activities. Could your children make their own versions of some of these?

9) The Assemblies website has a pre-prepared assembly to use on the day.

10) Scholastic have a free resource that includes a selection of facts, poems and a wordsearch to teach children about dragons and the patron saint of England.
