Brilliant Blogger of the Week: Simon McLoughlin Posted: 22 Apr 2013 11:00 AM PDT
Our next Brilliant Blogger of the Week is Simon McLoughlin. Simon is currently a Year 3 teacher in a vibrant and creative inner-city primary school in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Simon’s blog is mainly about his experiences in his classroom, allowing him to share good practice and to reflect on what he has done. Simon admits that he also writes a few ‘moany’ posts every now and then about how the teaching profession is being devalued and undermined by elected bureaucrats. He explained to me that these posts do help him to vent his anger and to remind himself that no matter what the latest piece of ‘advice’ from Whitehall is, teachers do an amazing job. Simon decided to start blogging at the start of his NQT year, as he spent his GTP year reading other people’s blogs and getting lots of ideas. He felt that it was only fair that if he took other people’s ideas from their blogs, he should give something back in return. Simon’s most popular blog post was about when an alien spaceship landed at his school (a wonderful idea!). Other fantastic posts include:
Take a look at Simon’s blog here. I’m sure that you will find lots of inspiration!
