Gaming Standards Association (GSA) Welcomes Gaming Industry Leaders To Successful Annual Open Forum

Posted: 26 Jun 2013 11:53 AM PDT

LAS VEGAS (June 26, 2013) – The Gaming Standards Association (GSA) held its first annual Open Forum on June 11 at Treasure Island in Las Vegas, Nev., welcoming more than 50 key industry leaders for a very successful day-long and in-depth discussion about the future of the gaming industry. The session focused on the evolution of online gaming initiatives around the world.

GSA President Peter DeRaedt

The attendees were as diverse as GSA's member companies, and included operators, suppliers, regulators, consultants and test labs from countries as varied as Austria, Canada, Ireland and the U.S.

GSA President Peter DeRaedt welcomed the attendees, and GSA committee chairs presented overviews of the current state of GSA's protocol roadmaps.

Next, AGLC CIO Jeff Wyton delivered a keynote address presenting case studies showing an operator's look at GSA protocol implementation in the Canadian marketplace. "Our goal is to deliver the right game in the right place at the right time, and GSA standards have been the vehicle enabling us to achieve that goal," Wyton said. Wyton also spoke to the cost, R&D and business intelligence benefits that GSA standards have brought to AGLC's operations.

John Purcell, Managing Director of Purcell & Associates delivered the day's second keynote. Purcell provided a European perspective as to how GSA standards are affecting governmental monitoring requirements in Europe, and how GSA standards support the three pillars of regulation in Europe: protect the vulnerable, keep gaming open and fair, and keep gaming free from crime.

The Forum concluded with an open dialog and discussion with an international panel of gaming experts discussing the future of online gaming and how GSA's recently announced Online Gaming Committee would play a role in that future. Moderating was Mario Galea, Chairman of LGA Malta. Panelists included Mark Pace, VP Networked Gaming & Operations, WMS Gaming, Kerry Wolfe, Sr. Executive Director, Manitoba Lotteries & Chair of OAC, John Purcell, Managing Director, Purcell & Associates and the Honorable Jon C. Porter, CEO, Porter Gordon Silver.

GSA is continuing the online gaming discussion with the official launch meeting of the Online Gaming Committee with a meeting webinar and teleconference on July 23, 2013. The meeting is open to all interested parties – operators and manufacturers alike, and the discussion will focus on the proposed committee charter and scope.

Members and non-Members interested in attending the meeting should register for the meeting here.  For more information on GSA, its standards and level of membership is available at www.gamingstandards.com.

Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) Receives Contract from Colorado Division of Gaming Extending 22-Year Working Relationship

Posted: 26 Jun 2013 10:10 AM PDT

GOLDEN, Colo. (June 26, 2013) – Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), the world's leading gaming testing laboratory and technical consultancy, has received a new contract from the Colorado Division of Gaming to serve as a certified testing laboratory for the State of Colorado. This new agreement extends and builds on a venerable working relationship between GLI and the Division.

GLI President James Maida

The contract is the culmination of an extensive Request for Information (RFI) process conducted by the Division. The RFI included strict performance and Colorado-based facility requirements that must be adhered to in order to achieve "Certified Vendor" status. GLI is already in conformance with these high standards and will be able to continue its uninterrupted level of service to the Division and to the gaming public, which dates back to the start of gaming in Colorado.

Only test labs designated as "Certified Vendor" can perform testing for the Division, and GLI is the only test lab to have achieved this status.

"We are honored with the incredible trust the Colorado Division of Gaming has placed in GLI. Since 1991, we have worked closely with the Division to ensure the State remains on the cutting edge of gaming technology, benefitting the state and its gaming facilities, while at the same time protecting the public interest. We are thrilled to extend our relationship with the Division, and we look forward to many more productive years working together," said GLI President James Maida.

GLI's Colorado lab has been adding staff consistently for more than a year to keep pace with ever-increasing demand for GLI's services, and now the lab is home to more than 100 employees. The increase in staff necessitated GLI Colorado's recent expansion of its facility in Golden, Colorado.

GLI's staff increase in Colorado mirrors a worldwide hiring trend at the company, which has added more than 150 employees globally over the past year. Today, GLI employs more than 800 staff members in its 21 locations. With more than 800 employees, GLI has more capacity than any other lab.

GLI serves more than 455 global jurisdictions, more than 130 of which exclusively accept GLI certification letters.

For nearly 25 years, Gaming Laboratories International, LLC has been the world leader in providing independent testing, inspection and certification services to the gaming, wagering and lottery industry. GLI also offers independent network and information security assessments to its regulatory, lottery and supplier clients. With 21 locations across Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Europe, North America and South America, GLI is the only global organization of its kind to hold U.S. and international accreditations for compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, 17020 and guide 65 standards for technical competence in the gaming, wagering and lottery industries.
