Over the last eight years, Mr. Thorne has been teaching infants and uploading phonics, spelling, grammar and maths videos to YouTube to help others become confident learners.

What began as an impromptu upload to YouTube 8 years ago became a brand in high quality phonics resources for teachers and parents. Hot on the heels of the Rose Review, he produced over 480 further videos varying from letters and sounds to blends and spellings to grammar and now times tables. Not forgetting of course, Geraldine the Giraffe!! After being shown on BBC Click, Mr Thorne Does Phonics became a hit in schools, and teacher-training colleges around the world and a nod in the Times in 2013 for #1 Website to Make Your Child Smarter – www.MrThorne.com.

Mr Thorne currently teaches Year Two in the day, moonlighting as an app creator at weekends. All 14 of his apps have been in the top 100 educational apps in the UK and he has recently published his latest app, Tricky Words with Geraldine the Giraffe. This features 26 videos to help children to spell the 100 most tricky words in English. Watch this video to find out more about it…
