Daniel O'Reilly's ITV2 show is under investigation by the UK broadcasting regulator after it attracted 99 complaints.

The news came after ITV said it would not recomission the programme for a second series.

An online petition protesting against the show has so far attracted over 60,000 signatures from people appalled by the laddish advice that O'Reilly gives on how to 'pull birds'.

Offensive lines include: "Just show her your penis; if she cries, she's just playing hard to get," and: "If she's looking at me and playing with her hair, by the end of the night she'll need a wheelchair."

Ofcom has now launched an investigation to see if the content of the show breaches the UK broadcasting code.

A spokesman said: 'Ofcom is currently investigating whether the repeated use of sexual references in this comedy series met generally accepted standards.'

Criticism of Dapper Laughs intensified when footage emerged of a gig in which O'Reilly referenced the rape of women and mentioned the ITV2 show.

Homeless charity Shelter have announced it will not accept any donations from revenue raised by O'Reilly's charity Christmas album.

A former cruise ship entertainer, O'Reilly found fame via Vine, a social media video website.

Since facing such intense criticism O'Reilly has appeared on Newsnight, announcing that he is 'killing off' the character and apologising for the offence caused by the show. However, many of his videos are still on Youtube.

In 2009 Avon UK launched its Speak Out against Domestic Violence campaign, and has raised more than £1.5 million.

Last September Avon teamed up with Glamour magazine to run a competition for Glamour readers to create an online campaign.

The winner of this campaign was survivor Charli Bailey, who created a Wall of Silence campaign.

"I never thought I would be able to share this in public but here it is… I was in a relationship with an abusive partner," Charli explained.

"These are the five things I wish I could go back and tell myself:

"People do not hurt the people that they love;

"You are stronger than you could ever believe:
"It is not your fault;
"You are not what happens to you; and
"It gets better.

"I never thought I would be able to share this in public but here it is; I was in an abusive relationship.

"My Wall of Silence campaign is about everyone in society coming together and taking a stand not only against domestic violence but the fact that we are not talking enough about a crime that kills two women in the UK every week.

"I hope you will show your support by uploading your picture and joining us in standing up for women everywhere.

"Women like me. Women like you."

Please upload your Ssssshhhhh selfie directly to the Wall of Silence website, or tweet your picture with #wallofsilence.

For every selfie uploaded Avon will donate £1.00 to Women's Aid and Refuge.

Or if you just want to donate, text WALL to 70500.

Your text will be charged at £5 plus one message at your standard network rate (based on your service provider rates); the charge will show on your bill and the sender will show as a five digit number.

A minimum of £4.95 will be donated to Women's Aid and Refuge once network provider costs are taken.
