Great Resources from Culture Street

Culture Street offer a fantastic selection of sites and resources that teachers can use. Here is a small selection of what they have to offer:

  • Picture Book Maker – Children can create their own online picture book zoo story with our interactive – wonderful zoo animals and a writing tool are included!
  • Culture Street Stop Frame Animator - Stop frame animation is a way of creating movement (and a film) from still objects e.g. paper cut out pictures or models.
  • Superactioncomicmaker - Superactioncomicmaker is a way of creating online comic books and engaging boys with writing.
  • Illustrated Book workshop - A whole class Art and literacy workshop with Year 5 and 6 pupils making illustrated books for a younger audience. More literacy activities on Culture Street.
  • Meet Artist Andy Goldsworthy - Andy Goldsworthy makes sculpture from natural materials including stone, clay, ice, leaves and wood. Watch him in action and learn more about his techniques, as he created work for an exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Your class can also see what our young reviewers thought of the show.   • Culture Street Costume workshop - Learn how to make costumes with wallpaper and cheap materials you already have to hand in this school workshop led by professional designer, Angel Simspon.
  • Clay Coil Pot artist-led class workshop - A step-by-step video guide to making clay coil pots in class led by artist, Mike Eden. No kiln required!
  • Improve Your Drawing Techniques workshop - Pupils are shown simple ways to improve their drawing skills using charcoal, wax crayon, rubbers and textured paper, in this class workshop led by artist Louise Bradley.
