CTBA Calls VAWA Law “Historic Collaboration”

Posted: 07 Mar 2013 02:24 PM PST

In what can only be viewed as an historic collaboration between Tribal nations and the U.S. Government, President Barack Obama signed the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) reauthorization today.  The new law includes provisions that allow Tribal courts to prosecute non-Indians who commit violence against women and families on Indian lands.

"There has never been a question that Tribes should have criminal jurisdiction over our Tribal lands.  That said, we have been unable to enforce this fundamental point among non-Indians from the standpoint of U.S. legal precedence," said CTBA Chairman Robert Smith.  "By signing this provision into VAWA, the President is making a very clear statement about his commitment to protect women and families.  He is also being very clear about his support of Native American sovereignty, upholding a basic principle that supports our ability to govern our own lands and protect our wives, daughters, mothers and families."

Ever since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1978 that tribal courts lack criminal jurisdiction over non-Indians, most crimes committed by non-Indians on Tribal lands have gone unpunished.  Today, Tribal leaders are hoping that will change.  Among the provisions included in the Act, Tribes will have the authority to prosecute non-Indians for domestic violence, dating violence, and violations of protection orders.

BALLY TECHNOLOGIES’ INDUSTRY-LEADING INNOVATION CONTINUES WITH SIX INNOVATION AWARDS IN TWO PRESTIGIOUS CONTESTS

Posted: 07 Mar 2013 01:47 PM PST

LAS VEGAS, March 7, 2013 — Bally Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BYI), a leader in slots, video machines, casino-management, interactive applications, and networked and server-based systems for the global gaming industry, today announced it won six awards for innovation in the 2013 "Most Innovative Gaming Technology" products awards and the "2013 Slot Floor Technology" awards.

Impressive panels of judges comprising gaming and hospitality executives, gaming analysts, technology consultants, and other industry professionals chose the products that exemplify the best in innovation and technology advancements.

Over the past four years, Bally has won more than 50 awards for technology innovation, a testament to the Company's focus on Research & Development and providing customers with the trailblazing solutions that drive return-on-investment, improve operating efficiencies, and excite players.

"We are honored to have our products singled out by these panels of well-respected casino operators and other industry professionals," said Bally Technologies' Senior Vice President of Technology Bryan Kelly. "The more than 50 innovation awards we have won since 2009 reflect Bally's focus on innovation in our core business areas of games and systems while at the same time augmenting our land-based solutions with new areas of focus such as iGaming, mobile, and social – enabling casino operators to drive players to the casino, and the casino to players − at home, work, and on-the-go. This recognition has fostered a terrific sense of pride throughout our organization."

In Casino Enterprise Management magazine's Slot Floor Technology Awards' seventh annual contest, Bally Technologies won four of the 10 awards, garnering praise for Challenge Connection, Elite Bonusing Suite™ Social Link, DM Tournaments‘ Bonus Tournaments™, and Virtual Racing™ NASCAR®.

Bally Technologies garnered two of the coveted "Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products" awards for Challenge Connection™ and its iGaming Platform during the 16th annual competition sponsored by Casino Journal magazine. This year's contest garnered 75 product entries. The winners of the Platinum, Gold, and Silver Awards, as well as the Attendee Choice Award, will be named and recognized at the Gaming Technology Conference in Henderson, Nev. next week.

In the two awards competitions, judges chose the following Bally award-winning technology:

Challenge Connection™ connects select Bally games to a casino's Facebook app, enabling friendly challenges that drive people to the casino floor and provide powerful marketing and promotions opportunities.

Elite Bonusing Suite Social Link enables casinos to market floor-wide promotions via social media using Social Casting and Elite Bonusing Suite (EBS) Web Tags, capitalizing on the powerful viral nature of Facebook wall posts − increasing patron-trip visitation and frequency.

DM Tournaments' Bonus Tournaments™ enable casinos to run floor-wide tournaments without having to rope off areas of the casino floor or change revenue-generating games into tournament mode, eliminating game downtime and providing labor savings. Player opt-in and individual tournament start deliver optimum flexibility to casinos.

Bally's open iGaming Platform is an online gaming portal that enables casino operators to augment their land-based casino gaming with online and mobile play-for-free and wager-based games, selecting best-of-breed content from a multitude of providers.

Virtual Racing NASCAR takes Bally's floor-wide virtual-racing bonus solution to the next level with America's largest branded racing event. Players on any gaming machine across the casino floor can pick their favorite NASCAR driver and watch the race while continuing their game play.

Pala (CTBA) Chairman Reacts to New Jersey Becoming Third State to Legalize Online Gaming

Posted: 07 Mar 2013 12:14 PM PST

March 07, 2013  On February 26, Gov. Chris Christie signed a bill legalizing Internet gambling, making New Jersey the third state in the nation, after Delaware and Nevada, to offer online betting for real money.

In response, the Honorable Robert Smith, chair of the California Tribal Business Alliance and chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians, expressed disappointment. "With the approval of the New Jersey online gaming law, the state, which has typically held to the gold standard of gaming regulations, now unfortunately appears to be weakening the eligibility requirements needed to obtain a gaming license," Smith said in a statement.

"While the local market in New Jersey may be driving these sorts of decisions, in California we cannot allow for reciprocity with states that have lower standards and softer controls opening the doors to questionable corporations, which now appears to be the case in New Jersey," Smith added. "Gaming at all levels should be held to the same, very high standards set for tribal gaming agencies in California. It is in these regulations that are in place to address the nature and the business of the gaming industry, that we maintain the trust in the game and the confidence of consumers and regional governments to promote a safe, fair and mutually beneficial gaming industry."

Madrid, 4 March 2013.- Zitro, a world leader in Video Bingo games, has published this year's launch calendar for new games. There are 20 titles, which will be released on an international scale on a monthly basis, and, as standard in Zitro launches, will astound everyone.

A state-of-the-art laboratory Zitro's factory of ideas is constantly working and proof of this are the new games which are ready to be released during this year, fruit of constant work involving creativity, R&D and software development which constitutes Zitro’s most relevant asset.  In fact, these games are born from Zitro's new, avant-garde and state-of-the-art Factory of Ideas in Barcelona, where more than 300 professionals are constantly working on the brand’s new creations. Tony the Lobster y Stiffany´s, the first titles to be on the street The first games launched by Zitro this year have been Tony the Lobster and Stiffany´s. Tony the Lobster is Zitro's new game which transports you to the Caribbean thanks to its friendly character, Tony, a hybrid between a human and a lobster who provides the player with a fun time. With catchy Latin beats, the music in Tony the Lobster has been especially composed for this game which submerges the player into the true Caribbean culture.  It also has free extra balls which will surprise the player and a Bonus which invites the player to snorkel in the Caribbean seabed to find treasures hidden in fun oysters.

Zitro adds luxury and glamour to the games rooms, thanks to its new title Stiffany´s, based on the film Breakfast at Tiffany's. This game turns into a true jeweller, with spectacular pieces which will dazzle the player due to their beauty as well as their amazing prizes. But the luxury goes a step further, the Bonus of Stiffany's is a window display filled with rings that hide more surprise winnings.

BALLY TECHNOLOGIES INSTALLS AWARD-WINNING ELITE BONUSING SUITE™ APPLICATIONS AT APACHE CASINO HOTEL IN OKLAHOMA

Posted: 07 Mar 2013 09:17 AM PST

LAS VEGAS, March 7, 2013 — Bally Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BYI), a leader in slots, video machines, casino-management, interactive applications, and networked and server-based systems for the global gaming industry, today announced it has installed its award-winning Elite Bonusing Suite™ (EBS) applications at Apache Casino Hotel in Lawton, Okla.

The casino will be providing its loyal guests with several exciting EBS applications, including Virtual Racing™ NASCAR®, Virtual Racing, and DM Tournaments™.

Apache Hotel Casino is the first property in Oklahoma to feature a combination of trailblazing applications.

"Bally's EBS applications will bring extra excitement to the casino floor," said Randall Sanner, General Manager of Apache Hotel Casino. "These tools will give our guests yet another reason to visit our property. We are delighted to be the first in the state to offer these thrilling second-chance opportunities to players. Additionally, the ability to add EBS floor-wide gives us the opportunity to expand offers to any game on the casino floor."

Bally's Virtual Racing promotional tool has already been a huge hit, creating floor-wide excitement on casino floors across America, driving coin-in, carded play, new player's club signups, and tremendous excitement.

Virtual Racing NASCAR takes it to the next level by enabling players to select one of eight famous NASCAR drivers: Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin, or Martin Truex Jr. from the touch-screen on the iVIEW™ or iVIEW Display Manager™ (DM) player-user-interface. Players choose their favorite driver and cheer him across the finish line.

DM Tournaments is the ultimate form of community gaming, enabling casino operators to almost instantly turn slot machines on their casino floor into tournament games – with no device downtime or lost revenue. The tournaments are displayed on Bally's iVIEW DM player-user-interface. Last February, DM Tournaments powered the world's largest slot tournament at Pechanga Casino & Resort in Temecula, Calif., drawing crowds of thousands and creating frenzied excitement across the casino.

"We are very proud to partner with Apache Casino Hotel in implementing Elite Bonusing Suite systems solutions," said Bally Technologies' Vice President of Services and Support Sridhar Laveti. "It is especially exciting that casino patrons in Oklahoma can now experience the fun and excitement of events like Virtual Racing that offer second ways to win and increased anticipation during game play."
