Gaming Standards Association (GSA) Announces Five-Year Strategic Plan

Posted: 29 Jan 2013 11:53 AM PST

LAS VEGAS (January 29, 2013)  Gaming Standards Association, the world's leading gaming standards-setting organization, has established and adopted a five-year strategic plan. The plan upholds GSA's mission to continue to be the leading voice of gaming industry standards, its commitment to the universal adoption of the ground-breaking G2S, GDS and S2S protocols, and clearly outlines the organization's global goals in standards development and adoption through 2017.

GSA President Peter DeRaedt said, "Since 1998, GSA has been internationally recognized as the standards-setting organization by and for the industry. Now in this five-year plan, we set specific goals, acknowledge key industry trends and lay out a clear path to ensure that we have the right standards in place."

The 2013-2017 strategic plan reaffirms GSA's commitment to the continued development, implementation and certification of existing standards and includes the creation of an improved lifecycle roadmap for standards development and increased collaboration with stakeholders to drive adoption.

In addition, the organization will continue to build its recognized brand in the industry and examine collaboration with both U.S. regulators and European regulators related to online gaming messaging standards. The organization will further address the potential development of standards for the Player User Interface and the creation of a central repository for software authentication information. GSA will launch a new online gaming committee to provide leadership driving standards in the online space.

"This is a crucial time in the history of the industry. Technology is converging across platforms and disciplines, and this creates new opportunities for operators and suppliers, as well as challenges for regulators and testing labs. GSA membership has never been more important for all of these groups and we firmly believe that our five-year strategic plan clearly illustrates why participation in GSA is vital to future success," DeRaedt said.

GSA, its members and committees have been an integral part of the gaming industry, developing landmark and widely adopted standards such as the award-winning G2S® protocol, GAT®, GDS®, S2S® and XPT® standards.

The doors closed on the final day of EAG International Expo with visitors and exhibitors in upbeat mood. Despite adverse weather conditions and the accompanying travel disruption, the industry rallied to support its show, with both established and first-time exhibitors reporting high footfall and an increase in genuine buyers.

Sega Amusements Europe reported an extremely busy three days. "We had our best first day ever and were seeing customers right up to the very last minute of the final day," confirmed General Manager Justin Burke.

At the Suzo-Happ stand, John Vallis was equally positive. "Suzo-Happ has had an excellent show in spite of the weather," he revealed.

First-time exhibitor Media Theme also enjoyed a busy inaugural event. "We have been very pleasantly surprised by the number of interested buyers and will certainly be returning next year," confirmed Regional Sales Manager Ian Ball.

Innovative Leisure's Phil Pickersgill reported a perceptible increase in visitors. "We've seen an increase in the number of UK and overseas visitors representing the attractions sector, both at the show and at the First Night Party," he observed.

Kelly Shaw VP of System Sales and Marketing Aristocrat Technologies

Kelly Shaw said, "We are delighted to welcome Magnolia Bluffs Casino to the Aristocrat family of partners. This contract is a significant win for Aristocrat, because every new casino opening we win allows us to further expand our systems footprint, and we are confident that Magnolia Bluffs Casino will be impressed with the competitive advantages Oasis 360 can bring to the property."

The Oasis 360 installation at Magnolia Bluffs Casino will include the sophisticated suite of Oasis modules as well as the award-winning nRich™ bonusing technology.

nRich is a new form of bonusing engine that focuses on dynamically rewarding individual players instead of targeting players in groups. nRich recently topped Casino Enterprise Management Magazine's 3rd annual Hospitality Operations Technology (HOT) Awards List for Guest Experience Enhancement, and field studies have shown nRich's value to operators.

Aristocrat's sophisticated and technologically advanced Oasis 360 casino management system was rated the best player tracking system in the 2012 Goldman Sachs Slot Manager Survey and is the most widely used in North America, currently monitoring devices at more than 285 casinos.
